Lizzie_ArmitsteadJanuary 12 - British Cycling is giving youth its chance in Beijing this month, naming an11-strong team for the third round of the UCI Track World Cup, which will take place in the Chinese capital from January 21-23, and is selected predominantly from the Olympic Academy Programme.

Sam Harrison, Simon Yates and Phillip Hindes will all make their World Cup debut at the event in a team which also includes experienced performers such as Lizzie Armitstead (pictured), a world team pursuit gold medallist in 2009.

Shane Sutton, British Cycling's performance manager, commented: "The Track World Cup in Beijing is a great opportunity for the young squad to gain experience at World Cup level against world-class competition.

"Our podium riders competed in the first two rounds of the World Cup series and are now focused on preparations for the final round at our home Velodrome in Manchester where we're planning on fielding a full-strength squad."

The UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester will take place from February 18-20 at the Manchester Velodrome.
