Bishopsgate Institute_21-03-12March 21 - The Canadian Paralympic Canadian (CPC) have revealed that the Bishopsgate Institute will serve as the location for Canada Paralympic House for the duration of London 2012.

Bishopsgate Institute is located in the Spitalfields area of London and less than two minutes away from London Liverpool Street station, one of the main stations in the capital that is a five minute train journey away from the Olympic Park in Stratford.

The easily accessible location will serves as a home away from home for Canadian Paralympic Family members during the Games, which run from August 29 to September 9.

"Canada Paralympic House will provide a variety of services exclusive to Canadians in London during the Games," a CPC statement said.

"It will be a great place to meet and hang out with other Team Canada 2012 family and friends, or to just come by to relax after cheering on a gold medal performance."

Key services at Canada Paralympic House will include television coverage of Paralympic events, an internet café, special events and entertainment, snacks and refreshments and special services for Canadians while in London.

Access to Canada Paralympic House will be limited but you can sign up to the Team Canada 2012 Newsletter to find out how to register here

Bishopsgate Institute was established in 1895 and it is a cultural institute that describes itself as a home for ideas and debate, learning and enquiry and as a place where independent thought is cherished.

It offers a cultural events programme, courses for adults, a historic library, archive collections and community programmes.

Meanwhile, Canada will be hoping to improve on their performance at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games where they finished seventh on the overall medal table with 50 medals, 19 of which were gold.

Five of the gold medals were won by wheelchair racing star Chantal Petitclerc but Canada will no longer be able to rely on their star performer for victories as the 42-year-old from Quebec has now retired and is working with the UK Athletics Paralympic team.

One of Canada's top medal hopes at London 2012 will be wheelchair racer Josh Cassidy, who won the men's 2010 Virgin London Marathon.

Both the men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams will also be strong contenders at London 2012, particularly the men, who are the reigning Paralympic silver medallists.

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) have not yet confirmed Canada Olympic House for London 2012 but have confirmed to insidethegames that they will be making an announcement about it in either May or June this year.

The announcement is likely to be made by the COC in London.
