January 12 - Usain Bolt (pictured) is to feature in a series of new television commercials as part of Jamaica’s "Once You Go, You Know" tourism campaign.

The sprinter, winner of three gold medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and three gold medals at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, will appear in a series of 30-second TV commercials that will air in key United States markets next month and March.

The first commercials features Bolt running throughout Jamaica, but does not make much progress because he pauses to take in the view after every few steps.

In "Speed," the second commercial, he runs past a series of landscapes to the song "One Love", which was one of the biggest hits of Bob Marley's career and ten years ago was named the best song of the millennium.

And in the third, called "Pose," a series of everyday Jamaicans imitate his famous "lightning bolt" pose.

The adverts will be produced by Norwegian Jorn Haagen who has produced a number of award-winning commercials, including for Levi’s called Buffalo, which aired during the Superbowl in 2003, and for his work with Puma, the German sports company who sponsor Bolt.

Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch said: “The campaign is just planned for television, but it could be developed into a print campaign later on.

"He [Bolt] was more than happy to show off his home to the world.

"He is a proud son of Jamaica."
