Ukraine's Golubnichiy to join IAAF Hall of Fame

Hall of_Fame_Vladimir_Golubnichy_Sept_16September 18 - Vladimir Golubnichy, Ukraine's two-time Olympic race walk champion and multiple world record breaker is the latest athlete to be named as one of the 24 inaugural members of the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) Hall of Fame which has been created to mark the year of the IAAF centenary.

Former London Marathon chairman Clarke dies

JIm Clarke_Sept_16September 16 - Jim Clarke, who served as chairman of the London Marathon from 1995 to 2009 and was instrumental in setting up the entry system for the first event in 1981, has died at the age of 89.







110m hurdles record shattered by Merritt in Brussels

Aries Merritt__Sept_7September 7 - Olympic 110 metres hurdles champion Aries Merritt produced a time of 12.80sec at the Samsung Diamond League meeting in Brussels tonight to take 0.07 off the world record – the biggest reduction since his US compatriot Renaldo Nehemiah lowered his own world mark from 13.00 to 12.93 in 1981.
