More than 350 people watched a display by the Korean Taekwondo Association (KTA) demonstration team in New Zealand.

The event was held at the North Shore Event Centre in Auckland, in collaboration with Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ).

Many of those in attendance were TNZ members and their families, with the display described as "spectacular and highly entertaining".

A seminar for members preceded the display, while traditional Korean drumming and dancing was also demonstrated at the event.

This was in a bid to promote Korean culture in the local community.

A performance of Korean K-Pop music was also held with the guests including Hachoel Jung from the South Korean consulate.

After the success of the day, future events may now be held while the KTA and TNZ have forged greater ties.

In November, Tae Kyung Kim was re-elected as President of TNZ.

The Grandmaster was voted back in for another term during elections at an Extraordinary General Meeting in Auckland.

New Zealand sent one competitor to the Olympic taekwondo tournament at Rio 2016 in August.

Andrea Kilday competed in the women's under-49 kilograms category, but lost to home Brazilian athlete Iris Sing in the first round.

Kilday qualified for the Olympics by winning gold at the Oceania Taekwondo Championships.
