Russia’s Alina Fazylzyanova triumphed in the women’s skeet event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Grand Prix in Rabat.

Fazylzyanova held off the challenge of compatriot Zilia Batyrshina throughout the event in the Moroccan city.

She finished the final with 54 targets hit out of a possible 60 at the Club Les Chênes venue.

Batyrshina, who impressed in qualification yesterday, finished as the runner-up with 52 targets out of 60.

An all-Russian podium was completed by Anna Zhadnova, who was eliminated in third place with 41 targets struck from a possible 50.

The men’s event saw Qatar’s Rashid Hamad emerge as the winner.

Hamad, who led qualification yesterday with Spain’s Juan Jose Aramburu, topped the standings after missing just six targets.

He finished on a score of 54 out of 60.

United Arab Emirates’ Saif Bin Futais placed second on 52.

Aramburu completed the podium places, finishing third with 43 targets hit from a possible 50.

Competition is scheduled to continue in Rabat on Wednesday (February 3), with the first day of trap events.

The ISSF say the event is the governing body’s first official competition on the African continent in several years.
