In the quad event, Nick Taylor and David Wagner won their doubles match against Canadians Mitch McIntyre and Rob Shaw 6-1, 6-2 on their way to a 3-0 victory against their North American neighbours.

Wagner defeated Shaw 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in their singles match; and Taylor made it a clean sweep by beating McIntyre 6-3, 6-2.

Sam Schröder and Niels Vink led The Netherlands to a 3-0 victory over South Africa in the quad discipline too.

In the doubles, they defeated Danny Mohlamonyane and Donald Ramphadi 6-3, 6-2, before Schröder delivered two bagels to Ramphadi in a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Vink then defeated Mohlamonyane 6-1, 6-0 in the other singles match.

Britain defeated Turkey 2-1 in their quad match too.

James Shaw first won 6-3, 6-2 against Fatih Karatas, but Ugur Altinel saved the tie from ending with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Anthony Cotterill.

The US won their men's discipline match against Israel 2-1 to start a successful campaign.

Conner Stroud defeated Guy Sasson 6-4, 6-4; but the Americans were pegged back in the doubles match when Sasson and his team mate Adam Berdichvsky won 2-6, 6-2, 11-9 against Stroud and Casey Ratzlaff.

Ratzlaff won the match for the US 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 against Berdichvsky.

One of the favourites are France who started with a men's doubles victory when Guilhem Laget and Nicolas Peifer defeated Dissanayake Gamini and Suresh Dharmasena of Sri Lanka 6-0, 6-4.

Peifer then won 6-0, 6-0 against Dharmasena and Frederic Cattaneo made it 3-0 to France with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Gamini.

Dutch duo Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers got their nation off to a winning start with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline over Kamil Fabisiak and Piotr Jaroszewski of Poland, and their team mate Ruben Spaargaren won 6-1, 6-0 against Maksymilian Szary.

Egberink made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Fabisiak.

In the women's competition, Colombia defeated France 2-1.

Angelica Bernal Villalobos won the opening match against Charlotte Fairbank 6-0, 6-2, but Pauline Deroulede levelled the score for France by beating Johana Martinez 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Villalobos and Martinez did secure the win in the doubles with a 7-6, 2-6, 11-9 victory.

Finally, Brazil came from behind to defeat South Africa 2-1.

Mariska Venter won 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 against Brazilian Meirycoll Julia Duval da Silva in the first singles match, but Maria Fernanda Garcia Alves defeated Mabel Mankgele 6-2, 6-0 to equalise.

Duval da Silva and Garcia Alves claimed the doubles win 6-1, 6-1 by beating Venter and Nokwanda Hlongwane.
