The first phase of priority registration is to run until December 6 and is to be open to athletes from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, United States, Ireland, Tajikistan and Bulgaria.

It allows nations to enter one athlete in each weight division.

After that, the first entries for remaining nations will be open for a week between December 7 and 14, with IMMAF then awarding wild card places to two athletes in each weight on December 15.

Phase four will allow the prioritised eight nations to enter a second athlete in each weight class over December 17 and 18, before the remaining nations are given the last chance to enter any second athletes on a first-come, first-served basis.

This last deadline is set for December 23.

Following this, all registered athletes are required to be medically cleared prior to the event and vetted in regards to their professional or amateur eligibility by IMMAF to confirm their place.

The 2021 IMMAF World Championships are scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates from January 24 to 29 2022, following its earlier cancellation in Kazakhstan due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation is organising the event with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with competition to be held at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City.

From 2022 to 2024, the UAE is scheduled to host the IMMAF Youth World Championships too.
