Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Bø and Tarjei Bø became the first siblings to share a biathlon podium at the Winter Olympics, after earning gold and bronze in the men’s 10-kilometre sprint event at the Zhangjiakou National Biathlon Centre.

Thingnes Bø produced a strong display to lead the event from start to finish, despite receiving a penalty in the standing section after the midway point of the event.

The 28-year-old held a commanding lead over his nearest challengers to secure victory in a time of 24min 0.4sec.

Thingnes Bø was able to celebrate his second gold of Beijing 2022, after being a member of Norway’s successful mixed 4x6 kilometre relay team.

"Some days you just feel like the wax men do half of the work,” said Thingnes Bø, who also earned bronze in the men’s 20km individual event.

"Today was a day like that.

"I managed to save power on the skis, I felt good on the range.

"I had a good finish as well, even though I was really tired.

"I put down one of the best sprint races of my life and I'm really happy that it happened today."

Fillon Maillet added the silver medal to his gold in the 20km individual event.

Tarjei Bø rounded off the podium places in a time of 24:39.3.

The Norwegian edged the Russian Olympic Committee’s Maxim Tsetkov, who ended just 2.7 seconds further back.
