Adirondack Health and Lake Placid Sports Medicine are the latest companies to partner with organisers of the Lake Placid 2023 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games.

A private healthcare company based in the local region, Adirondack Health has signed up as the Winter World University Games' official medical services partner.

Lake Placid Sports Medicine, an orthopaedic surgery, is now the official orthopaedic partner.

Ashley Walden, executive director of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Winter World University Games Organising Committee, announced the two new sponsors, which give the event a funding boost.

"We're excited to partner with both Adirondack Health and Lake Placid Sports Medicine and their highly skilled and caring staffs," Walden said.

"As a resident of Lake Placid, I appreciate the above and beyond services provided to me, my family and the Tri-Lakes' region by Adirondack Health and Lake Placid Sports Medicine.

"As a former international competitor in the sport of luge, I learned first-hand the value that these caring and professional individuals bring to the overall well-being and recovery of elite-level athletes."

They are the latest sponsors to be associated with Lake Placid 2023, following on from a recent partnership with Hydro-Québec, which is to work together with organisers on sustainability.

Lake Placid 2023 is scheduled to take place from January 12 to 22 next year and is set to be the first edition of the Winter Games since 2019, after Lucerne 2021 was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions in Switzerland.

More than 2,500 athletes and delegates - from 600 universities and more than 50 countries - are expected to compete.
