New Zealand’s Paul Coll came from behind to win a third Professional Squash Association Canary Wharf Classic title, ending the fairytale run of Welshman Joel Makin in the process.

Fourth seed Coll claimed a four-game triumph at the East Wintergarden in London, England, winning a high-quality encounter.

The unseeded Makin got off to a flying start winning eight of the first ten points with an attacking brand of squash, which helped him take the opening game 11-7.

Former world number one Coll stepped up the quality in game two, taking it 11-6.

Makin’s error count increased in game three with Coll punishing his opponent through keeping the ball in play, as he took it 11-4.

Coll described the victory as "amazing" and said it had been "a big week" and that he felt he had "found himself on court."

Coll’s run to the final had included a 3-1 win over second seed Ali Farag of Egypt in the semi-finals, as well as a quarter-final triumph against eighth seed Mazen Hesham of Egypt 2-0.

In the last four Makin upset top seed Mostafa Asal of Egypt in the semi-finals, winning one of the matches of the tournament 12-10, 10-12, 3-11, 11-3, 11-8.

Earlier in the tournament, Makin had beaten third seed Diego Elias of Peru in the second-round and seventh seed Tarek Momen of Egypt 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
