The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa has firmly stated their position regarding the vision and geopolitical issues surrounding the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

In a special message from its President, Mustapha Berraf, ANOCA rejected the politicisation of sport, adding that the Olympic Games is the only event that brings the whole world together in peaceful competition.

"The athletes are sending this powerful message: Yes, it is possible to compete fiercely against each other and at the same time live together peacefully under one roof," the organisation said in its press release.

ANOCA also argued that the politicisation of the Games is a flagrant violation of the Olympic Charter and must be condemned because it is disrespectful to athletes and undermines the integrity of sporting competitions, according to the International Olympic Committee.

The organisation is certainly behind its athletes. With less than 100 days to go until the Olympic Games, ANOCA President Berraf, took the opportunity to rally behind the continent's Olympians

"You are our pride and joy, you are our success in Paris 2024! You inspire all our actions for sport and through the Olympic values that you embody through your behaviour and your performances," said Berraf.

Berraf went on to urge African athletes to rise to the Olympic task ahead of them. "Your medals will be precious. Go for gold, because Africa is a continent of gold. Paris 2024, here we come," he concluded.
