Despite challenging weather conditions, the organisers managed to move Saturday's matches to an indoor venue, ensuring a smooth event in which Spain secured double qualification for the ninth edition of the 3x3 Europe Cup. The ninth edition of the Europe Cup will feature 24 teams (12 of each gender) and will be held in the Austrian capital, Vienna, from 22 to 25 August. 

The men's teams that have qualified are Austria, Serbia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, France, Spain and Croatia. In the women's category, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Spain and Italy have qualified for the tournament with the best European teams. There are still 4 slots per gender to be decided for the big event in the Austrian capital, which will take place after the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Although the Danish teams did not make it to the European Championships in Vienna, they are looking forward to competing at home next year, where they are guaranteed participation as hosts. Maria Jespersen, captain of the women's national team, said: "A huge thank you to our association and partners for organising this event. The atmosphere was fantastic and I hope it will inspire more people to play 3x3. Despite the close losses, I am proud of our performance and look forward to giving Denmark a win in the FIBA EUROPE CUP 2025".

The FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup will take place at Ofelia Plads from 5-7 September 2025 as part of Copenhagen's Street Days, ensuring that all games will be played outdoors under a special canopy, regardless of the weather.

The full stands and lively atmosphere underlined the growing popularity of 3x3 basketball. Thanks to our event team from GAME and the DBBF, we look forward to continuing our preparations with the City of Copenhagen and Sport Event Denmark."

On the other side of Europe, closer to the Adriatic coast, another European qualifier took place in Kosovo. In this country, both the men's and women's teams from Azerbaijan qualified for the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2024. The Azerbaijani women, who also qualified for the Paris Olympics earlier this year, defeated Cyprus 21-12 in the final. The top scorer in the final was Tatyana Deniskina with 12 points. 

In the men's competition, Azerbaijan also booked their ticket to Vienna with a narrow 20-18 win over Cyprus in the final. With 12 points in the final, Jordan Davis was named MVP of the competition.

There are two more qualifiers to go next week (15 and 16 June) in Bratislava and Bucharest.

In Slovakia, the host team will compete alongside Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Estonia, Germany and Bulgaria, while in the women's competition, the host team will compete alongside Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Estonia and Lithuania.

The other window will be in the Romanian capital, where the locals will compete alongside Latvia, Israel, Slovakia, Greece, Great Britain, Georgia and Montenegro, while in the women's competition, Romania will look to qualify at home alongside Latvia, Israel, Slovakia, Greece, Great Britain and Georgia.
